I wrote about the Lelo Lily in my Christmas wishlist last month. And the lovely, wonderful folks from Lelo sent me one to review for you*! And it is just as great as I hoped, so you’ll forgive me if I was a little too, er, busy, to write this until now.
This post is a little more “adult” oriented than the rest of Fish nor Fowl, but it is just as important an issue as learning to take time off or flexing your creativity muscles. Sex is a part of our human make up and pleasure is vital to that process. Learning to love our bodies and ourselves, especially as women, is something often overlooked, or even frowned upon in our society. If you’ve never tried to have an orgasm independently, you are sorely missing out on the intricacies of your own wirings and hot spots, not to mention a lot of fun! How is your lover supposed to know what turns you on if you don’t? I would at the very least admonish you to visit a women-centered sex store (or website) and try something out!
But back to that lovely winter morning when I awoke to find a small white package at my doorstep. I gleefully opened up the shipping box to discover a beautiful black box emblazoned with Lelo’s logo. Inside was my plum Lily, its charger and an adorable silk bag for safe keeping. It does have to charge when you first get it, so I spent a little time reading the manual to find out that she has five modes, all controlled by the two unobtrusive buttons on the front. First, the level of vibrations goes from a soft tickle to a very strong buzz, but all remaining at a whisper (a big plus if you have roommates!). She also has three different pulse modes and a “before and after” mode, revving up and down in succession. I personally prefer steady vibrations, but the “before and after” mode was much more pleasing than I’d original thought. The Lily’s surface is smooth and sleek, easy to clean and soft to the touch. I love how simple and modern her design is as well.
My only complaint with the Lily, and it is a small one, is her shape. She has a node on the top front where the vibrations are centered, but the whole vibrator pulses fairly strongly. She’s a little hard to hold onto, but the size is beautifully discreet. She’s also excellent for two-person play as she’s easy to slip in between partners for an extra jolt in your love-making.
Of all the vibrators I’ve ever used, the Lily is my favorite by far. Yes, she is expensive, but if you’re looking to really invest in a toy that will last a long time and is great for both you and your lover, I highly recommend the Lelo Lily. Say for a Valentine’s Day present? ::nudge nudge::
