I have to start this TILT with a note. One of my best friend’s mother is in the hospital right now, dangerously ill, with no information as to why or what is wrong. So in this time of being thankful for what we have, let’s keep those in need of our thoughts and prayers in mind today.
Roald Dahl: I buy most of my books from thrift stores. Paperbacks cost at most 50 cents and you never know what you’ll find. Lately I’ve recovered a lot of Roald Dahl books, including The Witches, The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar, and I’m currently reading The BFG. They’re good reading no matter what age, and so much more wonderful now that I’m an adult than as a child. I’m convinced that good children’s literature is the best de-stressor.
Haircuts: I really dislike getting haircuts unless it’s going to be drastic or I have shorter hair. I think trims are too expensive. I’m also an old grandma, ha! But I’ve definitely let my frizzled ends get too long, and I’m excited to have them chopped off for healthier, happier hair.
Headwear: I love hats and think they should come back into commonplace wear. Let’s start a hat-volution!
Travels: So excited to snuggle with my human radiator in a palace of ice next week! I want to go festival dog sledding, meet Bonhomme, and drink many caribous late into the night.
日本語: (Nihongo) Or Japanese. I took Japanese in high school and for two semesters of college. I find it to be such a fascinating culture and language so completely foreign to my own. I’m currently trying to re-learn how to read, write and speak. It is tough going but extremely rewarding work.
Runners up: clubbing in my kitchen, intercontinental conversations, cheery farewell parties, hooping bruises, smokey eye make-up, cups of tea after chilly afternoon walks
そして あなた? (and you?)
